I started my career at Jacksons in 2018 as an apprentice working towards a Level 3 Business Administration qualification. I was based on reception and I still remember the excitement of landing a job in a Law Firm. I had no experience in the law industry and I was ecstatic to see what really happens in this industry behind the scenes.
Working on reception was a great way to gain insight into the different areas of law and it was a great way to learn about what different people in the firm.
Alongside reception, I was also given the opportunity to help the marketing department. I was involved with various aspects of marketing including putting together attendee lists for events, preparing and sending invitations, sourcing venues and caterers and helping prepare for and run events. I soon came to understand just how important and vital marketing and business development really is for organisations, especially organisations in the law industry.
I soon formed an interest in secretarial work, and I was eager to become more involved in case work to gain more knowledge and experience.
In 2019 I was ecstatic when Jacksons offered me a full-time role for admin support within the Wills and Probate department and I joined the team almost immediately. I was given one-to-one training and consistent support. It soon became clear to me that the Wills and Probate department was the perfect department for me. I connected with the clients like it was second nature and the work continuously drew me in. Whatever I had worked on that day, I read up on it! I found myself researching at night the process of administering Estates, Trusts, Wills and the different provisions, Lasting Powers of Attorney and deputyships.
In our department we quite literally ‘learn something new every day’. It’s what makes the job so interesting. Every situation, every matter and every client is different, and I look forward to developing relationships with clients and helping them with private client matters.
