Andrew Gilmore joined Active in 2007 as an Administrator, through the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) Apprenticeship Scheme. After just 6 months, Andrew completed his apprenticeship and moved on to more technical work, then in 2009 he was promoted to Senior Administrator. The following year Andrew gained his first financial qualification, Certificate in Mortgage Advice (CeMap).
In 2012 Andrew was promoted to Paraplanner where he researched products and options for Active’s team of advisers. During this time, he continued with his studies, gaining the Diploma in Financial Planning. In 2013, Andrew began work as a Financial Adviser.
Andrew was promoted again in 2015, this time to Paraplanning Manager overseeing a team of 3 and supporting the team of IFAs to find the best products for their clients. Also in 2015, Andrew featured in the NECC’s book of Apprentice Greats, marking their 200th anniversary.
Continuing his study while working full time, in April 2016, Andrew gained Chartered Fellowship status, the highest level of qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). While studying for this qualification, Andrew gained a great deal of technical knowledge.

In 2018 Andrew was recognised as one of the top 35 New Generation Advisers (in the UK) 2018 by CityWire & New Model Adviser.
Most recently, in Spring 2021 Andrew completed the Masters Degree (MBA) in Business Administration at Teesside University. The MBA is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), so on completion Andrew was also awarded Chartered Manager status, to go alongside an already impressive array of accolades.
Active’s Director Paul Gibson said: “It is vital that we continue to develop our knowledge and keep up to date with regulatory and legislation changes so we can offer the best advice to our clients. Andrew fully embraces this, and has been instrumental in Active’s growth & success”
