We are delighted to tell you that Hillsview Academy in Middlesbrough is now an education member of High Tide, which means that we will begin to work alongside their incredibly talented teachers to educate their students about the great career opportunities there are on Teesside.
The newly formed Academy was created from the amalgamation of Gillbrook Academy and Eston Park in Middlesbrough and is now already seeing massive changes; both in the pupils’ attitudes, and also exam results.
New principal of the Academy, Anthony Walker says of the school: “The academy respects the unique contribution that each individual can make, and provides a caring and supportive framework embracing the highest possible academic aspirations, whilst recognising differences in abilities, aptitudes and skills.”
His focus is to push for increased knowledge and development in his students, while also working towards helping them begin their careers in their chosen industries. This is where we come in. By raising aspirations and demonstrating the variety of wide-spanning industries in Teesside that sit on the River Tees and operate out of Teesport, we can help them achieve their goals going forward.
Project Co-ordinator at High Tide, Lauren Bywater met with the school this week to agree their relationship with the Foundation and she will be visiting them again in the coming weeks to present them with their membership certificate. She said of the new member: “We are really looking forward to beginning our relationship with Hillsview Academy. We believe that we can help inspire and educate the students through our special programmes, schemes and cadetships; as well as enabling them with access to mentors from our industry members.
“Work experience is also another important element of school life, and if we can guide them towards a specific industry that they are interested in, then we believe that they can be extremely successful in the future.”
